Windows 10 Completely Remove Blue Arrows on Icons

If this is the Desktop those arrows mean that it is a shortcut.

They have just appeared today and I want to remove them. I know the icons are shortcuts.

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

It depends on the type of arrows you are seeing . . .

1
If that is two blue arrows facing each other at the top right of the icons, that indicates that folder, or disk is compressed, you can right click the folder or drive and select Properties and turn off compression . .

2
If that is two white arrows on a blue square on the bottom left of the icons, that indicates you have Norton BackItUp installed and those indicate your files are being synced

If you still cannot work out the problem, please provide a screenshot and I will provide a solution for you . . .

One blue arrow in bottom left corner of the icon, turned up and to the right.

Is the arrow you are seeing the one shown below, if so, that is the standard icon overlay in Windows 10 to indicate the item is a shortcut to the file, not the actual file

It is completely normal for those arrows to appear in all versions of Windows and there is no setting in Windows to remove those arrows

However, if you do want to remove them, there is a method provided on the link below:
